A Lazy Boy Story
The story is about a boy named Jack who didn't like to work. His mom was poor and told him he had to work or leave home. So, Jack finally decided to work for a farmer. The farmer gave him a big piece of cheese as payment. Jack put the cheese on his head and went home, but some of the cheese got messed up.
His mom told him he should have carried the cheese carefully in his hands. Jack said he would do that next time. The next day, Jack worked for a baker who gave him a tomcat. Jack tried to carry the cat in his hands, but it scratched him a lot, so he let it go. When he got home, his mom told him he should have tied the cat to a string and dragged it along. Jack said he would remember that for next time.
The following day, Jack worked for a butcher who gave him a big piece of meat. Jack tied the meat to a string and dragged it home, but by the time he got there, the meat was ruined. His mom got really frustrated and scolded him, saying he should have carried the meat on his shoulder.
On another day, Jack worked for a cattlekeeper who gave him a donkey. Jack struggled to carry the heavy donkey on his shoulders and walked slowly. He passed a house where a rich man lived with his daughter who couldn't hear or speak. This girl had never laughed, and a doctor said she would get better if someone made her laugh.
When the girl saw Jack carrying the donkey, she found it so funny that she burst into laughter. This made her able to hear and speak. Her dad was happy and rewarded Jack by letting him marry his daughter. So, the lazy and silly boy became a rich man because he finally did something that made someone happy.
