Independence Day is a special and important day in our country. It's a day we remember with pride. The story of our independence started on March 26, 1971, when we declared ourselves free from the control of Pakistan. This day is like a colorful memory of our bravery as a free nation. Back in 1970, the Awami League won the most votes in our elections. But the government of Pakistan didn't listen to what the people wanted and tried to stay in power through tricks. This made our people very upset. Our leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started a movement to fight for our rights. But Pakistan's rulers attacked our unarmed people on the night of March 25, 1971. They did terrible things like killing, stealing, hurting, and setting things on fire. We didn't give up, though. We stood up against them. After 9 months of fighting, we finally won on December 16, 1971. March 26th became our Independence Day. Every year, on this day, our country celebrates with honor and respect. Independence Day makes us feel proud and reminds us of our great achievements as a nation.
