Composition | A Fund-Raising Campaign
Last year, our Youth Club decided to build its own building. I was chosen as the head of the group responsible for organizing a campaign to raise money for the construction. Here's a report on how we conducted the campaign and how successful it was.
First, we approached the wealthier members of our community and asked them for individual donations. We went with a few respected residents from each part of the town to visit the homes and offices of these wealthy people. This approach made our campaign more serious and important, and almost everyone we asked contributed generously to our fund.
Next, we asked the government for permission to organize a lottery to raise money. Club members, their friends and family, and other people interested in the club's activities tried their best to sell as many lottery tickets as possible. We also sought help from youth clubs in other parts of Lahore.
Then, with the approval of the authorities, we organized a "flag day." Club members stationed themselves at important locations in the town on a specific day and sold flags to people passing by. We even visited homes and offices to sell the flags. People gave whatever amount they could or wanted to spare.
Additionally, we obtained permission to hold a food and fun fair. We sold coupons all over town and in nearby villages and estates. Parents of our club members contributed food and prizes for the fair. We took care of all the cooking and serving ourselves. The fair was a huge success.
Lastly, we organized a Talent Time Show and Variety Concert in conjunction with the food and fun fair. It was so popular among the local community that we had to perform multiple times due to high demand.
With a donation of Rs. 100,000 from the Social and Welfare Lotteries Board, we now have a little over Rs. 300,000 in a local bank. This should be enough to build the modest building we have planned.
