Computers are amazing inventions of modern science. They play a crucial role in our world, which is often referred to as the computer era. Science has become the driving force behind our modern society, and its influence is widespread. There are countless inventions that serve various purposes, and the computer is one such creation. It was developed through the hard work of many scientists. In 1833, Charles Babbage is credited as the father of the modern computer. His invention consisted of five main parts: store, mill, control, input, and output.
Following Babbage's computer structure, Harvard University created an IBM computer in 1944. Since then, computers have undergone rapid modifications and many other models have been invented. A computer performs three main functions: it receives data, processes it, and produces output. To start, the details of a task are inputted into the computer. This input is known as a program, which needs to be written in the computer's own language because it doesn't understand human language. The program is typed and generated using a printing machine connected to the computer. The computer's memory stores the program's instructions, and the control unit reads them and coordinates with the arithmetic unit. Once the computer completes its tasks, it sends the results to the output.
Computers are incredibly useful in our daily lives, serving various purposes. They have brought about significant changes in education. Students in developed countries use computers to prepare their study materials. Computers also play a crucial role in accurately preparing the results of various examinations within a short period. Additionally, thousands of books can be printed quickly with the help of computers, making them valuable tools in education. Nowadays, computers are even used to diagnose diseases and provide alternative surgical procedures. They also assist in grinding stones for normal pathological tests.
Science should always be directed towards serving humanity, and the computer stands as one of its greatest contributions. It is expected to serve humanity by replacing human brainpower in many areas. I believe computers can help Bangladesh solve many unresolved problems, making them a true wonder of modern science.
