Information Technology
Information Technology, or IT, has undergone an incredible transformation nowadays. It involves science and devices used for gathering, processing, and managing information. The goal is to transfer information worldwide through computers, especially in a global system. This includes computers, the internet, laptops, projectors, CD-ROMs, worldwide telephone networks, and IT-related satellites.
We live in a time of globalization, where the entire world is like one big village or family. Countries are cooperating and competing with each other. Trade and commerce have transcended national borders. Macroeconomics and management practices have changed to be more holistic and culture-sensitive. The foundation of civilization now revolves around the efficient use of information. Access to information is crucial for healthy competition, ethics, survival, and progress. So, the importance of IT cannot be overstated. In fact, IT has become the central nervous system of the world economy. Without IT facilities, efficient activities and fruitful decision-making are almost unimaginable in this age of industrialization.
Information Technology is the result of scientific development and has become a well-established body of knowledge. Universities worldwide, including those in Bangladesh, offer well-planned courses on IT. A significant and practical branch of IT is the Management Information System, known as MIS, which is an integral part of organizational administration.
Computers play a vital role in conducting various programs, courses, and exams. Results of exams are known quickly due to computer-based systems. Online banking, ATM services, and credit cards have made modern life more convenient. The publication industry and billing systems have also become faster and more efficient.
No one can predict the future changes and developments in Information Technology. We can only wonder how high IT will soar in the near future. IT has made the world smaller, bringing it to the palm of our hands. So, keeping up with the latest IT developments is essential for surviving in today's world.
