Story | A Foolish Crow

One nice morning, there was a fat and silly crow sitting close to a rich man's kitchen. The crow was hoping to find a chance to steal some food. When the cook came out to grab something, the crow snuck in and grabbed a large piece of fried meat with its beak. Then it flew away to a tree in the nearby forest.

By luck, there was a skinny and hungry fox sitting near that tree. The fox noticed the fat and foolish crow holding a big piece of meat in its beak. The fox couldn't just sit quietly and watch the crow eat the meat happily. So it came up with a clever plan to trick the crow.

The fox approached the tree and spoke to the crow in a very pleasant and flattering voice, saying, "Good morning, dear Mr. Crow." The crow didn't respond. The fox tried again, "How are you, my dear friend? I'm so happy to see you!" But the crow still didn't acknowledge him. The crow stayed silent and thought, "If I open my beak to speak, the meat will fall out."

But the fox wasn't discouraged. It spoke once more in a sweet tone, "What's the matter with you? Why won't you answer me? Have you forgotten your old admirer? I've heard you sing with your beautiful voice so many times. Could you please sing a song for me? I know you won't let an old friend down. Please, Mr. Crow!"

The crow was fat and foolish, and the fox was very cunning. The crow completely forgot about the piece of meat in its beak. It was overjoyed and opened its beak to caw. The piece of meat fell right into the fox's mouth, who was waiting for that moment.

Moral: A foolish always be foolish.
